Chia, formerly Bithia, was originally a Phoenician-Punic city. Its necropolis can still be visited at the foot of the Tower of Chia.
Chia is famous for its beaches lashed by sirocco winds that attract many people keen of surfing, wind surfing and stand up paddle.
Six kilometres of coastline make it the perfect location to explore a different beach every day, between paths surrounded by the maquis and small sandy coves.
The most beautiful and well-known beaches of Chia are those of Cala Campana, Su Giudeu and Cala Cipolla while among the less well-known beaches there are Isula Manna, also called “cardolinu”, the marina called “su portu”, La Colonia called “sa Colonia”, Cala del Morto and Cala de Sa reachable only by sea.
